* 4 5amp channels each.
* IEC sockets out.
* No Preheat.
* 13a Plug currently.

Double clunky 13a: (1 of)
* 2 13a channels each (MAX 2.5Kw each)
* 13a in and out for each channel

Pulsar status dimmers: (2 of)
* 8-pin Din analogue signal in, 0-10v
* With pre-heat (good for not shocking cold bulbs if they suddenly get turned on, this increases lamp life.
* 6 5amp channels each.
* IEC plugs on flying leads out.
* If they're buzzing, they're happy!
**'''faults'''
***Top dimmer channel 3, Likes to turn itself on to around 30% after a while. i.e. It's level can be raised, but not lowered beyond 30%. The time taken for this fault to appear can be minutes, or hours. It does not seem to be linked to heat - on 18/02/2010 the behaviour was observed when warm, and cold (given a break for 1/2 hour before retrying). This dimmer channel corresponds on the desk to what was "old channel I" - i.e. pre 18/02/2010 it would have been bottom dimmer channel 3..
***Bottom dimmer channel 3, The transistor/triac looks fried and has continuity between the emitter and collector, also two medium-power 270 Ohm resistors have physically split. This dimmer channel corresponds on the desk to what was "old channel C" - i.e. pre 18/02/2010 it would have been top dimmer channel 3..
***One dimmer is without a power cable - this was due to power cable being needed for the Strand 6pack

Power

The rig eats a lot of juice: It is fed from two 32amp Ceeform plugs on the wall (same wall as fire escape). According to the Mains Circuits page, both are on the Yellow Phase.

Dimmers

See Dimmers

Desk

Strand 200 plus see Lighting Desk

Hardware

  • On the ceiling is a home-made steel pipe frame, with some IWB's here and there (IWB's not connected).
  • More pipe clamps, lamp clamps in box under lighting desk.

Cables

Usually found on top shelf in techie room

  • 15a -> IEC
  • Various lengths of 15a
  • UK 13a ->15a adaptors (2 of)
    • Very useful on OB's

Patching

  • IEC Panels feed the plugs on the ceiling.
  • IEC leads from dimmers. MAX 5a (1Kw).

Lights

Furse fresnels: (2 of)

  • Old fresnels.
  • No barndoors
  • TUNGSTEN

Selecon Asymetric floods: (2 of)

  • Not old! - still incredibly popular as of 01/10
  • Asymetric! not even spread of light. spread gets better, the further they are from the wall. Remember, big side at bottom.
  • Use to light back walls evenly, rather than a large "splodge" of light at the top, and not much at the bottom.
  • The above makes them very useful when doing Chroma keying work.
  • Lamp access by flipping the catch on top - whole fornt of fixture is hinged to allow lamp change without re-focusing.
  • Colourframe located by flipping open the cover at the top. Not the catch! Slide out colourframe from top.
  • No Barndoors (selecon do still sell them though)
  • TUNGSTEN 500w

Selecon Symetric Floods: (1 of)

  • As Asymetric, but even.
  • No colourframes.
  • No Barndoors (selecon do still sell them though)
  • TUNGSTEN 500w

Generic bar of 4 floods: (2 of)

  • normal floodlights
  • 3 functioning bulbs per bar.
  • DIY colourframes from gridding - bend to suit...
  • 300w / compartment
  • very god for OB's

Generic floods: (3 of)

  • normal floodlights
  • DIY colourframes from gridding - bend to suit...
  • 300w

Strand patt 123 Fresnels: (1 of)

  • The funny egg shaped ones.
  • No colourframes.
  • T17 / T1 lamp.
  • TUNGSTEN 1000w

Strand patt 743 Fresnels: (2 of)

  • Adjustment control at rear, and behind barndoors.
  • Rotating barndoors.
  • Colourframes in cupboard.
  • T19 / T11 lamp.
  • TUNGSTEN 1000w

Polaris Quartzcolor Pole-Op Fresnels: (2 of)

  • With rotating barndoors
  • adjust Pan, Tilt & Beam Via knobs.
  • Colourframes - the octagonal ones. in cupboard.
  • Rotating barndoors.
  • HALOGEN 1000w
  • These are more "orange" than tungsten, so bear that in mind when colour balancing...

Par 64 Floor cans: (6 of)

  • Black
  • all with Gel frames
  • MF lamps
  • 500w Tungsten
  • Please only use HT gels, as they make an awful stink!

Gels

Colours

  • Blues
    • Lee 132 (medium blue)
    • Lee 118 (Light Blue)
      • Nice for set boards/uplighting...
    • Lee HT* 079 (just Blue)
    • Rosco 65 (pale blue)
    • Lee 117 (steel blue)
    • Lee 172 (Lagoon blue)
    • Unknown dark blue, marked as "199" (probably Lee regal blue)
  • Reds
    • Lee 106 (primary red)
  • Purples
    • Lee 049 (purple)
    • Unkown purple (possibly congo blue lee 181, looks like UV - but isn't really)
  • Greens (inc turquoises)
    • Unkown green (various & dark)
    • HT* 122 (Fern Green)
    • HT* 115 (Peacock Blue, yes it isn't really blue)
      • This works really well for backlighting set-boards.
  • Pinks
    • Rosy Pink (not much)
    • Lee 148 (Bright Rose)
    • Lee 345 (Fuschia Pink)
      • This is stronger than you'd think
  • Yellows
    • yellow straw(not much)

Diffusions & scrims

  • Scrim - looks like tracing paper, but made of plastic and not nearly as flamable. Like gels, will melt if touching the glass of a flood. Use this to soften light - you can also put over only some of the fixture (called half scrim) to soften light e.g near to the source only. Very useful, but underused.

Colour Temperature Filters

  • 1/2 CTB. Lee 202 or eqiv. Looks grey. decreases output of lower CT's (orangeyness reduction). Makes thing noticeably dimmer. ** tungsten (3200K) to daylight (4300K)
  • 1/4 CTB less strong CTB.

Signal

DMX

  • 120ohm terminator in back of last unit in DMX chain
    • currently Eurolite DPX-405

spare lamps

Spare lamps are hidden at the back right of the cupboard.

  • K1 Lin 500w (x4)
  • T18 (x2)
  • T17 (x1)

LD toys

Swatch books

These are on the lighting desk table.

  • Lee designer colour order - 02/2010 version
  • Gam designer colour order - 02/2010 version
  • Rosco supergel - 02/2010 version
  • Rosco Lux - 02/2010 version

other stuff

  • chinagraph pencils for writing silly (and possibly useful) messages on gels.

Old/unused Equipment

This is equipment that is still owned by YSTV and is stored within the studio, but is not currently in use due to newer equipment/incompatibility with current equipment in use.
