Point-to-point internet and router

From YSTV Documentation Wiki

The "Magic Biff" flight case and point-to-point nano stations are what is used for getting internet out to remote places where it would be impossible with ethernet.

Intro

The flight case is used to house the power distribution unit, a 10-port HP switch and "Marty" server used as a router, it is configured to run on eduroam networking which can work at the sports village or pavilion (theoretically).

How to setup

You need to connect "Marty"'s Gb1 port to eduroam and the "POE" port of the PoE injector, the black box with the Ubiquiti logo and white light, and then turn on power, there is an issue if you connect eduroam after the router is booted as it seems not to connect/not work. Put the nano stations on stands at either end, the router end and the receiving end, make sure that the nano station on the receiving end is connected to the PoE injector on that side and then connect the "LAN" port to a switch to distribute the internet to every other device. As long as the nano stations are pointing at each other then they should be able to automatically connect to each other and only need to be facing each other. The router shouldn't need to be configured either.
