Woodstock 2010 will be in Vanbrugh as usual. Currently the suggestion is to to focus all our efforts on the main stage, with maybe a wide shot or something on the indoor stage.

Main Stage

  • Someone needs to contact the organisers well before the event to tell them we NEED POWER for cameras!!!! DONE! We have up to ~3.5A at the main stage
  • 2 HD's
    • as roaming
  • 1 HD as dollycam
    • only if space between crowd barrier & tent is adequate.
    • haggle if necessary, but woodstock will be packed, and they shall be of higher importance to us - our job is to make the pictures a success, given available space.
  • 1 Howard. Dependent on output and 4:3 / 16:9 decision
    • suspended from rig
    • bring cable ties, lots of cable ties
  • Miranda (sky)
    • as wide
    • on balcony per usual In V139, pointing out of the window.
    • Cable run could be out of the V120 window, over the balcony, in V139 window - avoids going out of the door, needing haz tape etc.)
  • canon on balcony?
    • eg for presenters, and jugglesoc etc near the lake in the Langwith direction if they're there again, and rear shot of audience - tree in full bloom obscures the stage
    • may need to bring OB lighting rig for presenters.
  • power from event
    • bring the 16a > 13a's distro board
  • projector
    • find out where the projector(s) is, and possibly where the screen is from RAG
    • just feed it composite
  • Preview TVs --Malcolm.chambers 12:54, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
    • For discussion
    • Dependent on having at least one spare (we should do as we have PiP, and more tvs than we did last year.
    • I (Malcolm) would advise one 6" or ~14" for the two cameras at the front of the stage, the small, home-made, 12V testing monitor for the camera at the side.

Indoor Stage

  • A wide shot
    • Probably with the small sony or panasonic handheld camera
    • Dependent on the 4:3/16:9 Howard decission, Hoaward may serve as the wide shot.
  • Cams at back sides Two MS5s/MS4s at the front
  • Probably the small panasonic or sony handheld camera viewing drummer
  • not many crew, so focus on main stage
  • Take event sound via URY (organised, mono, balanced, hopefully remixed by URY)
  • Use to cut between act on main stage Aim to have separate broadcasts: Main and indoor.
    • can only easily interchange between them if both are 4:3
  • Tom Trolley Rig (in the control room or possibly V122 to isolate the two control rooms)

Roomspace

  • Woodstock have 'pretty much booked out all of Vanburgh's upstairs' for us & URY (from friday onwards)
    • We'll certainly have V120 (main room overlooking the walkway with roof
    • V139 for large sony camera, serves as wide shot of main stage
    • V122 useful for access to JCR roof for URY audio run, maybe editing, windows are useful for many video leads
    • V113 (access to, not necessarily use of) hopefully just for a cable run for the broadcast monitors in some of Vanbrugh
  • URY are in the SCR, they're possibly also V119

URY

  • Mono balanced from indoor stage
  • Stereo balanced (pre-presenters) from main stage
  • Aren't allowed to use their broadcast due to licencing, music copyright etc.
  • Run them a video feed to the SCR - probably also give them the tv to display it on if we've got any spare

Commercial stuff

  • Needs to happen
  • let people know its happening
  • DVD's?

VT's

  • Back archive of stuff to play if there's a pause - e.g. "now lets watch 2007"
  • On a per song basis, with some full sets - no-one can tell for definate how long a changeover will be!
  • Dependent on Howard 4:3/16:9 indoor/main useage - All Vt's to be used must be put into a 16:9 project, with black bars down sides
    • This means they get squished (in editing), and unsquished (in broadcast), rather than just unsquished in broadcast
    • Thus maintaining a respectable aspect ratio, and displaying all of the image...

Streamage

  • Both stages
    • Use new strm0
    • Use an Edit PC

Presenting and stuff

  • head of organisation - Viv.C
    • some notes about bands
  • Gaps:
    • Main stage - 5-20 mins
    • Indoor stage - sporadic! !! 16:9 and 4:3 difficulties unless one of th spare pcs can do contemporaneous 4:3 -> 16:9 conversion !!
  • Base at balcony
  • link between sets & Vt's of sets
  • possibly band interviews if can catch any
    • recorded to tape, probably on a canon dv, then hastily edited as a vt.

Comms

  • give to presenters not cam Ops - cam ops can be clever
    • SERIOUSLY !? - no comms for cameras at either stage seems a bad idea. --Malcolm.chambers 13:13, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Clever signalling solution needed. - IE probably waving out of the V120 window in the case of presenters/camera ops on the balcony

Gazebo

  • Stick on balcony - for rains  ??? --Malcolm.chambers 13:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Backup = go inside.

Top n' tailing

  • Use spare Edit OC

Happy crew equipment

  • Denton Boom - Balmer
    • Cardioid mic is not much use on a pole with the ambient sound therefore would have to use rifle mic on the boom pole.
    • Rifle mic would be good reserved for use on balcony for presenters - ie more directional therefore less ambient sound
    • Solution 1: don't use the boom pole, give interviewers the cardioid ones (Malcolm's preferred solution)
    • Solution 2: use cardioid mics on balcony and make sure presenters hold them close to their mouth
  • O.B. Party box - communal food - where from exactly?

YUSU Plasma's

  • Cullen to talk to yusu IT GUYS. be very very persuassive.
  • Chislett talk projectors YSL.

The amazing incredibly long list of stuff to take (and in roughly the correct order)

On the day, there'll be a list on the whiteboards, cross stuff out, only after it has definitely reached it's destination

Cams Main:

  • HD 1 (front of stage, possibly on tracks)
  • HD 2 (front of stage)
  • HD 3 (side of stage)
  • Howard
  • Miranda (Wide shot, pointing out of the V139 window)

Indoor:

  • Sony/Panasonic handheld (on tripod obviously) for wideshot if Howard's on main stage
  • Two MS4s or MS5s at the front of the stage
  • Possibly Panasonic/Sony handheld (on tripod obviously) pointing at drummer

Balcolny:

  • Canon DV (the one without firewire capability)

Roaming (recording to tape)

  • Canon DV (The one WITH firewire capability, for hasty capturing and editing)

tripods

  • Manfrotto black (the big one) (indoors for wide shot o=ver people's heads?)
  • the 'okay' black tripod from Jessops (also Manfrotto I think --Malcolm.chambers 13:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)) (for use at the indoor stage)
  • Manfrotto silver 2 (Indoor stage, at front of stage, MS4/MS5)
  • Small, old, from-ebay tripod (Indoor stage, drummer?)

  • Jessops silver tripod (On Balcony with canon dv? eg for reasonably smooth panning when introducing people, panning to the audience etc) No good for a heavy camera anyway
  • Satchler (V139, Miranda (Sony) tripod)
  • Manfrotto silver 1 (Dolley at main stage)

!! Preferably Need More Tripods !!

Mixers

  • DaVE
  • Mr T. Trolley
  • P164
    • a P164 is not a Maurice! - Maurice is the controls for it! P164's do come in mixer variants too - I thought I threw all these out, maybe I kept one --Malcolm.chambers 13:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Switchers

  • P169
    • 7 inputs:

HD 1, HD 2, HD 3, Miranda (sony), DV (no firewire), Howard (probably), VTPC - remember input 5 brightens images

  • P169 Serial lead
  • P169 Laptop
  • Touchscreen
  • VT 'P169' ? Useful for changing outputs to a couple of preview monitors, can't hurt to take a spare. Manual opertaion only unfortunately --Malcolm.chambers 13:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
