How To Create An Encode Profile

If you're using Premiere CS4

Speak to the Computing Team about getting hold of the encode presets and have them install them for you, or alternately do the below

You need to put together your own profile. In Premiere if you click on yellow, underline Preset link you should get some options from Media Encoder. On other platforms Google is your friend.

HD Export

  • Format: H.264
  • Container: MP4
  • TV Standard: PAL
  • Width: 1440
  • Height: 1080


  • Frame Rate: 25
  • Field Order: Upper
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
  • Profile: Main
  • Level: 4.0


  • Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 Pass (or Variable Bit Rate)
  • Target Bitrate: 15Mbps
  • Max Bitrate: 20Mbps


  • Audio Format: AAC
  • Channels: Stereo
  • Frequency/Sample Rate: 48kHz
  • Audio Quality: High
  • Bitrate (kbps): 160

Widescreen Export

  • Format: H.264
  • Container: MP4
  • TV Standard: PAL
  • Width: 1050
  • Height: 576

  • Field Order: None (Progressive)
