YSTV's Unaltered Equipment

Magic DaVE

Our main vision mixer. Underutilised to say the least, considering the number of transitions and effects it can offer. This is usually just used to mix/fade to determine which of its four inputs is sent to graphics PC for broadcast.

Krammer PiP

('PiP' 'Picture in Picture')

This has two inputs and one output. The output can be either of the two inputs, or a small version of one inputs overlayed in front of the other image at a particular location.

The Mux

A video switcher, with 32 inputs and 4 outputs (of which 1 input doesn't work and the other is dodgy). Any of the 30 working available inputs can be sent to any 1,2,3, or all 4 of the outputs. Ideally we would like to replace this with a 32x8 switcher as this would simplify the vision path and make it more reliable and versatile by removing the need for DaVE P169 and VT 'P169', and the associated DA boards.

Net Mux

DaVE P169

An 8x4 Video switcher, with 8 inputs, and four duplicated outputs.

Input 5 brightens anything inputted to it, output B seems weak when trying to drive a monitor and Magic DaVE directly from the two output sockets.

VT 8x4 Video Switcher

(Also referred to as 'VT P169' because it replaced the actual 'VT P169' which was identical to the current DaVE P169)

Monitor Rack

A description of the layout of what each of the 18 monitors usually displays.
