The Motion Graphics Bible is an attempt to summarise the current state of YSTV's knowledge regarding how best to do motion graphic.

The Bible is very much under construction, and any red links you see below are to pages that don't exist. If you have knowledge to share, please do!

Formats

We generally have three different ways of doing motion graphics, in increasing order of complexity:

  • Pre-rendered, where the information is fixed and known in advance
  • Essential Graphics (.mogrt), where we need flexibility for edits, but not for livestreams
  • NodeCG, where we need highly customisable and dynamic graphics for livestreams

Use the simplest one that works - do not underestimate the power of just pre-rendering your graphics, it may save you hours of pain.
